When going gets tough

Chapter 1

I am sorry - It is a very empty sentence, when there is no one on the other side to receive it. Kaiel learned it the hard way, as his hands pressed against the gaping hole in his wife's chest. Warm blood gushed out squirting from in between his fingers, and tears trickled down his cheeks.

"SOME ONE, HELP US"!!!!

It was his last ditch effort to turn around his life.

"SOME ONE, PLEASE"!!!!

The street sure was crowded, but that day his screams were silent. People looked at him, shaking their heads in sympathy, and then moving on to face their own troubles.

"SOME ONE"!!!

The gushing had stopped by now, and he knew there was no point in turning around his life. He had killed the last person who ever cared for him. He quietly rose, wiping the tears on his sleeve. He stepped away from the pool of blood

Can I turn back time?

Light that never fades,
Ever green like a river,
Sweet is the sleep, eternal,
Will I wake up ever?

Men sway, so did I,
God my only witness, but her smile,
The eternal price for pride,
Is my soul so wile?

Rejected by paradise,
I wander, I lust, I slay,
Touch, turns to rot,
Even love decays away?

Caught in a memory,
Intertwined, my other half,
She waits, she wails, by the
Wooden box, does it laugh?

Pearly drops, dampens,
Dry ground, drunk on the dead,
Sleep her ally, love,
Sorrow did she wed?

Death sang a lullaby,
I sang with it, a rhyme,
And as the sun fades, I ask
Can I turn back time?

Child of a Lie

Smile with the Sun, half circle through the sky,
Speak, mimic, act out a mortis reply.
The tone deafens my spirit, wading through the night,
Speak my tongue, sing aloud, recite my burdened lies.

Fear runs a-mock, love hides in the bludgeoned bushes,
Surrounded by wolves preying on the undead child,
She cries, she tails a fable, unheard at first,
But a familiar cry for help, I hear you,

The wolves surround me, jiggered my soul, it screams,
Stretched out into a jacket of human carcass, I lie,
Morbid sanitarium, my only recourse of solace,
I wander, pandering through the undergrowth of life.

Poison tipped heart, why do you cry, do you wail,
Pierce me with your hate ridden smirk, let me rot,
The wolves are upon me, I rest, peace my solace,
Take me home, heal this broken mirror of a soul.

I walk the shoes of my forefather,  lying my way,
I plunder life, yapping the same lie, I grow old,
The same six feet of a hole, for me to rest.
Touch me, kiss me to sleep, make me yours,

My child of lie.

Fading Lights

The days labour paid, She folded her feathery palms,
Walked the long way back, Into the night, she disappears.

The blue of the night shone through her eyes,
Fading into the night, she hums the lullaby of a lost sleep.

A drop of ink smudged on her pearly face, She lays, dreams,
Inkblots dance on the white canvas of her being.

Circle of life, drawn out from the darkness into light,
As the dream drifts off, into the realms of nightmare.

She twists, she turns, sleep doesn't let go,
A flutter of uneasiness settles,  into an invisible prison of sleep

The sleep tarries a bit, swooning her with its wicked gaze,
Then lashing down with its claws, It tears her dreams.

In the end, the inkblot spreads, covering the white,
In the end, darkness wails, as the curtains fall to a fading light.

The Sunshine

'Do you like the sound of rain?',
Her mischievous smile spoke out,
I do, I repeated, as my head bobbed.

'Why let the clouds gloom you, then?',
Her teasing smile echoed through the silence,
I don't know, I responded.

'Why is it that you like the sun?'
Her spirit giggled, a wide grin of teeth.
'Isn't it a good feeling?', I retorted.

'I can be your sunshine',
Her words oozed tenderness,
As she caressed my hair.

I can be your sunshine,
A kiss she planted, as she faded.
'Sunshine, through your darkest clouds.'

Will I know Her Pain

The blue of the night, reflected, precise, I do say, her eyes,
Her face drawn in a little frown, I guess, I can play a part in her games.

The angel who saw life depart,  as her wings were clipped,
Caught in an inter-twined truth, I play a part in her tears.

Life was just a little hidden treat, a ball mask, to be forgotten,
As the night settles deep, I see her blue eyes moisten.

My little dream, she blossomed,  she withered with the sun,
Dreams written on a page, I wish I could paint them pretty.

Purple bled the canvas, as the wings re-grew,
A fraction of an eon, they did stay, then fade at dawn.

Fate was a cruel joke, a celestial ploy, she would sigh,
A hug, a kiss, was that all I could gather, was that all I could give.

I saw her bloom, I saw her fade, I saw her grow, I saw her age,
I saw the little dreams blossom, I saw the dreams turn to nightmares.

But, till the end, I was unable to feel her pain.

Chronicles of Lady Death - Countess Of Death

"Why should I fear death?
If I am, then death is not. If Death is, then I am not.
Why should I fear that which can only exist when I do not?..." - Epicurus

Youth, the fountain of joy, yet thee evade my grasp,
Youth, the lust of freedom, born out of a divine lie.

The blood of the un-bled, I hope is my cure,
As I lay, parched from within, yet wet to my core,
Crimson stains, they refuse to wash off.

Youth, the forbidden truth, suckling on death.
Youth, Edith's worry, a mystical piece of jewel.

Here I grow old, time my foe, it grows, it wriggles,
Scarred by time, I wrinkle, shrivel, yet
Thee oh my love, I bathe in, as I inch closer to death

Youth, the unquenchable thirst, hope of death,
Youth, thou the lavish fantasy of men.

I have bathed a million times, yet time wins,
Time my foe, since I first knew love,
You will wither, he said, a kiss his farewell.

Youth, the unfound treasure, I yern for thee,
Youth, behold your mistress, make me yours.

They stand at my gate, a hundred deaths upon me,
They stand to judge, I wash my hands in blood,
I am yours, Oh fable of the victorious.

I am yours my love, and in death we shall be one.

Night Train to Velli

Amid the tight glances, I stood,
Steadfast, a word less searched for,
By the foot hold of the last wagon,
Of the Queen as she chugged through.

Black clouds rose in the night sky,
Moon and stars blanketed by her gurgling smog,
Each cloud a plumage of the night bird, fluffy coal candies.

The ride was long, I was told,
I ignored, rather enjoyed the rumble,
The tics and taks on the metal rail,
As the wheels echoed on, into the darkness.

An amber shone bright in the distance,
And the Queen started the long screech,
Pungent whiff of her diesel fog,  her engines coma-ed.

My fears grew roots, As the queen halted,
The amber turned to red, gale birthed a gentle breeze,
The smell of screeching metal fumed the night air,
The Queen had stoped her righteous stride.

I alighted the royal gait, stepping into the cold sand,
The red turned to green, but miles away was I,
My legs, my chariots, fear my fuel.

The Queen started her slow chug, the royal march,
The faint echo of her wail, annoyance it did speak,
I heard her slow rumble, as she regained her posture,
But miles away I was from her, moon my witness.

My captors turned red in her bosom, as she chugged,
Their sleep played the Judas in the grand scheme,
I felt the cold sand beneath my feet, freedom I guess.

I do feel pity for the gallows waiting for me,
The lonely little hoops, but what is mercy to me,
As I ran to the freedom, and the Queen conquered new shores.

The Chronicles of Lady Death - Olga of Kiev

The three horsemen smiled,
One by one she called their names,
Rise they did, from graves forgotten.

Pestilence my friend, she would sing,
As men burned in the bathrobe,
The best of their land, burned to ashes,
'No more suitors', the Pale horseman sang.

The wise and righteous of the land folcked,
War smiled, as he sharpened the swords,
Bidding her cry for revenge, patience a fools virtue

Patience paid its wage, in her court,
As he wetted his blade, bathed in blood,
Olga smiled, as five thousand lay dead,
Soldiers sheathed their swords, so did the Black horseman,

Her long lost love she mourned,
Olga wailed, as her love lay drenched in crimson.
The lure to mourn spawned the empire.

Famine hit the twenty of the best,
Dirt rose high, life smothered till the last breath.
The White horseman raised his sword,
As he stole the dying breath, of the men who came to mourn.

My son shall live on, Olga chimed,
For a price of pigeons and sparrows, three a piece,
Fire rained from heavens, Gomorrah witnessed its end.

Death devoured her love,   Drevlian murderers,
She mourned long and hard,
As she became the last rider of apocalypse,
Thus was sang the chronicles of lady death,

Nightingale's Wail

The curtains fall, an applause follows,
Her flamboyance seconded by the moon.
The lights dim, her pride wallows.

Countless are her adeptes assidus.
Men flock, boys swoon, at  the tender voice,
Yet guarded she stands, her hands perched high.

The night is young, she says,  a perfect choice,
She picks the one with the shiniest bag.

The crack of the dawn, sets the stage,
She clears her throat, smiles, shies away.
Her smile hides the infuriating rage.

As the night fades, the morning bird sings,
She collects her toils of the night.

Gathering the little garbs off her wings.
She flies home, walking the walk of shame
At length, home, and the comfort of her mirror.

Her beauty faded than the day before.
She clears her throat once again.
A crackled voice, of a girl in pain.

The wail of a lost nightingale.

The Chronicles of Lies

I listen to the ghost of my past,  scribbling words of wisdom.
In my head, the voice is recast, in shades darker than my soul
End, closer than before.

I see her grow more than a horror,  love that never gave me repose,
My mind transpired to her mirror, the paintings captured the reflections.
I disappear, she remains.

She held my hand in vain, an affection lost to the winds of morrow,
I kissed her lips in pain, her ghost lingers in my thoughts,
She appears, I fade.

The promises act their roles, in the theatre of lies, I play my part
Her smile inspired ballads, retold, heroes die, villains die, but my love oh dear,
Play ends, the curtain falls.

Shades darker than the grey, as the clouds gather, her smile fades,
I hear the little angel say, despair my friend, is your mistress,
She fades, the lies continue.

I play my part, in the self woven lies,
I play my part, in the chronicles of my life,

The Chronicles of Lady Death - Ya'el

"Oh righteous woman, of the tribe of Kenites,
Let me rest my head for a while,
Lest I be captured, tortured  and killed,
For my iron-bound chariots are stuck,
Stuck at the nature's mercy"

"Oh righteous woman, of the tribe of Kenites,
Let me rest my head for a while,
My foot is sore, and my enemies close to heal,
For my iron-bound chariots are stuck,
Stuck at the nature's mercy"

"Oh righteous woman, of the tribe of Kenites,
Let me rest my head for a while,
I, Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army, am lost,
For my iron-bound chariots are stuck,
Stuck at the nature's mercy"

"I am Ya'el, of the tribe of Kenites,
The first wed of Heber,
You may rest, oh stranger, I plea, you rest,
For a prophecy looms in my shadows,
And the plague of death in yours"

"I am Ya'el, of the tribe of Kenites,
The first wed of Heber,
A blanket for your tired soul, oh sleep,
For a prophecy looms in my shadows,
And the plague of death in yours"

"I am Ya'el, of the tribe of Kenites,
The first wed of Heber,
A jug of milk, for your parched throat, drink
For a prophecy looms in my shadows,
And the plague of death in yours"

"I Deborah, the judge of the mighty,
And prophetess of the lost, says,
Raise your army oh Barak, raise it against Jabin,
Victory will be yours, against the mighty Sisera,
A victory honoured by a woman."

"I Deborah, the judge of the mighty,
And prophetess of the lost, says,
The night would be rough and nature cruel, and behold
Victory will be yours, against the mighty Sisera,
A victory honoured by a woman."

"I Deborah, the judge of the mighty,
And prophetess of the lost, says,
Cannan is yours, yours for the taking, and descry,
Victory will be yours, against the mighty Sisera,
A victory honoured by a woman."

The hour struck late, and the prophecy fulfilled,
As sleep swept in Sisara's dreams,
A tent peg, in one hand, and mallet in other,
A strike, and two, victory followed,
As Ya'el drew the peg into Sisara's temples.

The Song of the Southern Wind

The Sun Spoke,
The sweetest of the words,
That befell any ear before,

'Whom are you waiting for',
A shy smile, replied.
'A love I reckon',
The sun simmered.

The clouds gathered,
A tale they longed to hear,
Of love, of longing, of the wait.

'Why the blush', the sun teased,
The smile gave way,
'Its a secret', she replied,
The clouds awed, women of the same feather.

The rain had a different tale,
'Who are you waiting for',
They chimed, a drizzle of words,

'Why don't you clear off',
She, rhymed the rhythm,
Rhythm of the thunder,
as it echoed through the clouds.

And as the rain parted farewell,
And the sun geared with joy,
And the clouds that dispersed with awe.

He stood, all in his glory,
Seven colors, majestic, royal,
Her blush gave way to joy,
And the southern wind smiled.

Chiruthevi: The Vengeance

"Death awarded at the hands of the one she loved, reborn a bewitching damsel,  to waylay men with her beauty and to drink their blood ..."

Do you lust for my soul,
Or my malice filled beauty.
Lay your heart out, let me suckle,
Lay your life out, let me bathe.

My tears laugh at your pain,
The scars arouse me, embalm me,
Let your wounds talk, let them kiss me,
As I submerge in your passion.

I see your fiery eyes, locked on me,
The scars did little to quench your ardor,
And as the last of the reds flee,
I relinquish my fury,  my heart drunk yet sober.

Its my heart's content that I seek,
Vengeance, long forgotten, yet,
My alluring words, a kiss so bleak ,
As your sweat ichor fuels my youth.

Why did you betray, my love.
Why did the noose tighten,
Why was I reborn,
To suckle on the life of men.

One Song Poem : Voice of the Unheard

The touch of cool breeze, unwavered by thought,
She sat, her hair wavering like silken thread,
The Sun was her companion, as it smiled and shined,
Silence was her friend, as she sat, lost in thoughts.

A butterfly fluttered around her, wings flapping,
A gust of wind, she felt, raising her hopes of a new tomorrow,
The ruslting of the leaves, the stutter of the nature,
The thoughts were only what made her, the tresses of her past.

Niether did the gods could help her, as silence crept in,
Long lost were the days of pompous celebration,
As she sat, by her dark corner, walls casting their shadows,
The glimmer of sun, lost in the silence of her day.

A twig broke, cracking through her being,
A tear sparkled as she stood, walked away from herself,
The portrait of a bright future, dallying by her fingers,
Will this ever end, Will I ever speak.

A firefly twinkeled, as the night broke out,
The shadows of the walls, long lost to the night,
She walks, away from everything she knew,
Every thing that defined the being she was.

A hug, the tears find their way,
Paving a path of sorrow, she tramples,
The dying flowers, reflect her hopes of tommorrow,
Nothing but rain, as the clouds curl up.

The silver lost to the lust, she held it at her heart,
The rain would lash out its fury, as clouds darkened.
The silver lost to the clouds, as the moon hid in the night,
And it rained, her tresses wetted by tears of god.

Will she ever speek?

The Woman (Inside Me)

The eye, thousand words in a glance,
Not a flutter, just the shimmering glee.

Drown in the mist, white, and gray,
Open  your mind, colorful from inside.

Portrait of the glaring sun,
Purple and red, the touch of magic.

Pout the mouth, words to fly,
Deaf to all the worries, just the silence.

Heart beats, little flutter of wings,
Butterflies to blame, but self assured pain.

Touch, like the dew,
Trickle down, sweet smell of rain.

Held close, never to break,
Bonds of pain, but the smile on face.

But the end, red in color,
Just to feel, to forget and move on.

She is the woman, Inside me.

The Reflections

I see my self in her eyes, reflections of my soul...

The eyes talk, make the world believe,
Her little eyes, they sang the story,
Our eyes meet, I see her story painted, like a movie.

The mirrors are everywhere, they are you, in you,
The mirrors made me love, made me hate.

Her little lips parted into a smile,
Her little rose lips came together in a kiss
As our lips parted, she began to sing, the story.

The walls soon will reflect, what you are,
The walls would loose their color, reflect your monster.

Her little hands hold on to mine,
I feel comfortable, fear nothing but me,
The warmth soon fades, as the fingers slip, empty space.

The water runs wild, flooding the world,
And I see my reflection, I drown in my reflection.

Half Face

....He watched the half painted face on the wall smile...

His eyes opened to a new morning, white lilies on his table,
The bright yellow tint of the morning sun, streamed his mind,
He watched the half painted face on the wall, blinked his eyes.

The nights spoil, spread under his bed, he could feel the heartbeat,
As he stepped aside to his new day, the face on the wall smiled,
The smile turned to laughter, pride his only emotion.

The spider crawled away, as his hands reached in to the depths,
Depths of his unaltered life, the lips parted in half a smile,
Love, he knew was that which changed the face, the half face.

The lily bloomed, a half white silver petal, fading at its root,
Something had changed from the previous night, spiders in his brain,
The red pool that had formed, reflected his evil self, the passion.

He watched the lily fade away, the white turning to pale rust,
He watched her smile fade away, the sunlight fade into darkness,
The spiders crawl back, as he laid her down, under his bed.

Wings of Dream

Is this life just a path to the place, that we all have come from...

His eye glimmered, with an unending passion,
As his hands worked the soft features of his dream,
Delicately he shaped it, made it real, from his own desire,
Then he breathed life into it, as he watched it fade.

He watched it grow into a beauty, a beautiful nymph,
He gave it everything, desire from his deepest heart.

It had a heart, which beat with every changing season,
It had a soul, which he thought he had owned,
The beauty grew, grew into something he couldn't comprehend
Until it was time to part, but his desires strong not to let go.

Then the story of tears, and sorrow, that passed,
The story of loneliness, that swept across his mind.

He realized that he couldn't shelter his dream for ever,
And agreed to let it free, free into a world of conceit,
But his pride was broken, aged he looked back at time,
Watched his dream bear wings and fly away, loneliness his aid.

He waited, till it had gone out of sight, and then a sigh,
As he picked up his walking stick, with a retreat of an old man.

The Count's Wife.

"...And by the light stood a beauty so divine, that I wanted her to be mine"

"There should be a silver lining", I thought,
As I moved on, on the stony path uphill.
"Sire, would you mind camping up here",
Bellowed my guide, as his steps started to fail.

The gray of the sky was settling in, as we camped,
And the twilight soon faded into the night.

"Why doth thee wish to enter the castle?",
Asked he with a curious glister in his eye.
"I wish to meet the Lady of the house,
For I have heard praises of her beauty"
, I replied.

A moments silence, and a hint of fear in his eyes,
Shocked and shaken did he reply.

"Sire its not safe in the night, for I've heard screams,
Screams of pain and anguish, screams of revenge with blood lust",
"What happened to her?"
, I asked curious to my bones,
"Oh let the dead rest in peace", he crossed himself, as he replied.

A cold sweat broke out on his forehead,
A shudder of despair enveloped his being.

"I will pester thee till you speak,
For I am a man who doesn't give up on ease"
,
And after a long persuasion he broke, and he gave in,
"But I warn thee sire, thy shan't see the light of dawn if I speak".

The moon peeked occasionally from the clouds, hiding at times,
As my guide wiped the sweat on his forehead that divulged his fear.

"It was their wedding night, and bride was in her chamber,
As a party of robbers, armed to kill, invaded the castle.
The Count, a brave soldier himself, killed a many with his sword,
Until a scum hiding, drove his knife deep into his bosom"
.

He paused for a while, scared as before,
And then took a deep breath as he resumed.

"She was dragged out, her cloths ripped of,
And as each of the men took his turn, she lay there helpless,
And her screams were muffled by the wicked laughter."

He stopped, and looked around, scared by the presence of a being.

I could hear the winds howl, through the hollow mountain,
And the gentle splash of footsteps on the water.

"When they were done, they left, leaving her to die,
She crawled back to her beloved lover, as she died",

"Sire, that's the story I know, and I shall not continue,
For whomever has recited the tale, never lived to see the dawn"

The story had captivated me, or may have enslaved me,
For I kept pushing him, now offering money for the same.

"Why are you so scared?", I asked losing my patience at last,
"She is still alive, and haunts these mountains", he replied.
"Finish the story, or I shall take your life,
For I hate cowards, who live their lives in fear of a hearsay"

He had no choice, he thought, for he would die,
So he gathered up his strength, and pulled up his bags as he walked.

"Lets go to the castle and I will tell you the story en-route,
For I shall die tonight, either by your hands or by the Count's wife"

So we started our uphill journey and reached the castle in an hour,
An eery silence was all that left, as we passed the castle doors

The courtyard was flooded with the silver moonlight,
And the long shadows of the pillars that stood by.

"Here she died", he said pointing to the ground,
"And here she was born again, to vent her fury on men"
A light breeze whistled by, as I heard on to the story,
"None of the robbers lived to see the morning light", he said

The creaking of doors, sent chills down my spine,
As I listened to his closing lines.

"From that day on, she preys on men, who wander by,
To spend the night in mountain, but for us, we are locals here,
And she doesn't harm, for we bring her the men she wants"
,
He sighed and sat down by the stone pillar, gazing up at the stars.

There was silence, a gloom of despair,
Which was broken by a painful scream.

"She is here!", he screamed, as he ran for the doors,
But the doors closed upon him, as he fell.
I could see a faint light, as it slowly filled the corridor,
And by the light stood a beauty so divine, that I wanted her to be mine.

She came close, a beautiful smile adorned her face,
And that smile was the last thing I saw, as she took me in her hands.

An embrace covered my body as lust filled my being,
And I watched the poor guide, clenching his chest as he died,
She took me into her sweet chamber, filled with fragrance of rose,
She dimmed the light and I swam with her, as my eyes closed.

Her warmth was what I felt, against my body,
Her killer gaze was what I had missed, as she lay by me.

The night was about end, and with passion did she kiss me,
And as I kissed her lips, I felt the cold breath from her being,
And slowly I gave into her hands, losing my self to sleep,
A sweet sleep I had never known, as I slept forever.
